Make Your Clients Feel Good

Earning repeat business and receiving client referrals is a key to ongoing success in real estate. The best way to do that is to have your clients remember you well. How do you do that? It's not by saying or doing any specific thing…it is by making your clients feel good.


Hey there, it's Sherri, and I am back.

Today I'm talking about how do we get referral business and how do we make our clients feel great? Right? And it's really important for referral business, right? And the key to great referrals and getting great client testimonials and reviews is really the key to your business and your business's success. So how do we do that? Well, we make people feel really, really good and we have them remember us, right? And if they remember you and they remember you really well, then you have achieved that.

You might ask yourself, “Well, how do I do this?”

It's not by saying or doing any one specific thing, but it is about meeting that clients' real estate needs, but also it's about purposefully making them feel uniquely understood, cared for, valued, and communicated with. The best thing I always say to people is you're welcome. We just don't say that enough anymore. Is there anything else I can do for you? Right? After someone says, thank you, the nicest thing you could say back to them is you're welcome. And you know what's so crazy is that when you meet somebody and they say, “Thank you,” or they say, “We loved to working with you,” and you say, “Oh, thank you. It was wonderful. It's my pleasure. It's my privilege.” How do they feel when they leave you, right? Never let anybody leave you without feeling better than when they came to you.

And Mother Theresa and Maya Angelou said this

People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. And so I want you to take away from this tip today the feeling of your clients only have one realtor, right? You may have lots and lots of buyer and seller clients, but your client only has one agent. And so how we make them feel and our interactions, both texting, emails, and most importantly, in the direct conversation that we have with them is going to be a lasting impression. And how you make people feel both in your professional world and outside your professional world will pay huge dividends in how you put and spread love and empathy and everything else that you do that's so wonderful.

So think about how do I make clients feel?

Do I make them feel uniquely understood? Do I help them to feel cared for? And am I… To them, do they feel like they're my only client? And I think that's also a great compliment that is one that really sticks out for me. Sherri made me feel like I was her only client. And that undivided attention that you give people. So think about what is it that you can do in your interactions? Can you maybe not text as much and call them and have a conversation with them? This is about making people feel valued and appreciated for the business that they're giving you. So take this to heart and take this with you. And again, always allow someone to… Never let anybody leave you not feeling better than when they came to you.
